• How it Works

To start the course, click on the Go to the Lessons link on the Course Homepage, or click on the Lessons button on the Navigation Bar. There you will decide which lesson to start learning. There are 15 in total. We recommend that you start with the first module and progress through from there. To do the whole thing in one go will take you two to three hours, or you can do it lesson by lesson whenever you have some spare time. With your own password to access your own individual programme, you can come back and do the lessons as many times as you want.

When you have chosen the lesson you want, click on it with your mouse and a blue page will open up (the Objectives page). This tells you what you will learn in that particular lesson. Read through it, and at the bottom you will see a button which looks like this: Click on this and you will go through to a cream coloured page.

This is your Project page. Here you will learn about the subject you have chosen. The way this programme has been designed is to help you discover for yourself, so it may ask you a question. If you are unsure you can press the button and you’ll see a clue to the answer. If that doesn’t help, press and you will get – can you guess? - an answer. Try them both for yourselves!

Once you have gone through the page click on which will take you through to the Exercise. Don’t worry, this is not the main test, just a short quiz so you can see for yourself how much you have remembered from the lesson. Once you have completed this, click on and you will see how well you did. Read through and take on board any learning and congratulate yourself on your score. If you want to go back and do the test again you can click on

When you have finished the lesson, click on the button at the bottom of the screen and this will take you back to the list of lessons where you can choose which one to do next. Alternatively you can log off and continue later – your individual programme will remember which lessons you have done and what your test scores were. If you have any comments for the authors of this programme you can leave us a message by typing your comments into the box provided when you finish each quiz – you can also rate the lesson depending on how you liked it. Once you’re ready to carry on, click the Lessons button.

When you have finished all the lessons, you are ready to complete the certificated exam. All you need to achieve is 70% (that’s 21 correct answers out of 30). So good luck! If you have any problems or don’t understand something having worked through the lesson, please contact your line manager.
